White House Desegregation Meetings Regarding the Civil Rights Act of 1964

This document is a consolidation of documents showing the cooperation among the NAACP, the American Bar Association, the Assistant Attorney General's office, and President John F. Kennedy.  The letters show that these groups worked together to gain passage of the Civil Acts of 1964.  The document also lists the numerous individuals involved in working for desegregation.  Notable among these letters is one from President Kennedy saying that he was grateful to the business community for working to end discrimanation in employment.  Equal employment opportunities was an important part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
